Come on down to 5th Floor Gallery in Chinatown to work with me on a Communal Sgraffito Totem!
Basically, the way it works is that I make a tall clay form, coat it with a contrasting liquid clay, & sit on my hands while you fine folks drink hot apple cider and have all the fun carving whatever the hell you want into it. Whatever. You. Want. Later, I will take it to the studio (currently my dining room table) & fill in any gaps that may be left with my own carvings. After it dries, I will fire it so that it becomes a forever ceramic totem.
When it is complete, the totem will find it's way back to the gallery & be available for purchase with 1/3 of the selling price being donated to a nonprofit ceramic educational program that is focused on kids. Why? Because kids are awesome & they need clay.
This project will be going on during 5th Floor Gallery's Holiday Craft Month kick-off party & it is also on a multi-gallery opening evening, so it's guaranteed to be a wondrous night throughout Chinatownland!
Entry Fee: FREE!
