Whether a person is using one of my cups, viewing one of my sculptures, living in a home I designed, or taking one of my ceramics classes, my goal is to create a space where folks can explore, discover, and become inspired.
Hi! Iām Kris Erickson.
I am a ceramic artist who lives, teaches, and creates in Southern California.
After moving from rural Connecticut to the Chicago suburbs when I was a kid, I found it challenging to make new friends with whom I could relate. It was suggested that I take a class at the local community art center. When I entered that studio, I was lucky to find my people + passion and was forever changed.
I continued in clay for 13 years, during which I also worked for a few years as a carpenter's apprentice. In 2000, I moved to LA to study at Otis College Of Art+Design with a focus on furniture and architectural design. After I received a BFA in Environmental Art in 2003, I went on to design homes, restaurants, and other spaces.
In 2010, I returned to working with clay. It was like coming home, and I haven't turned back since. Currently, I am working as a studio potter out of my home studio in Pomona, CA. I also teach ceramics at a community art center called Creative Arts Group in Sierra Madre, CA.
